Dear All,

I have a PhD position available in my lab. Please take a look at the
description below or the position advertisement
https://tinyurl.com/23fzukf7.

PhD Position Available in Digital Phenotyping and Genomic Integration

Are you passionate about next-generation phenotyping for breeding selection
and eager to make a meaningful impact in the field? The Bresolin Lab in the
Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-
Champaign is now accepting applications for a PhD position starting in Fall
2025!

About the Project

The research focuses on developing novel digital phenotypes using image
data and integrating these traits with genomic data to accelerate genetic
progress for production efficiency in beef cattle. This project offers:

- An opportunity to work at the forefront of digital phenotyping for
breeding selection in beef cattle.

- Hands-on experience in developing and applying machine learning
algorithms to analyze image datasets.

- Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of experts.

- The chance to contribute to cutting-edge research with real-world
applications in the livestock industry.

Required Skills

We are looking for a motivated candidate with:

- A degree in Animal Sciences, Biology, Data/Computer Science, or a related
field is required. A strong interest in digital phenotypes, genetics,
genomics, or animal breeding is essential. While knowledge of beef cattle
or livestock is valued, it is not mandatory.

- Experience in writing code (R, Python, or Bash) and genomic analysis
tools (e.g., BLUPF90 family software) is required.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

How to Apply

Send your CV, a brief statement of interest, and academic transcripts to
bresolinillinois.edu with the subject line: PhD Application  Digital
Phenotypes.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is
filled.

Dont miss this chance to be part of groundbreaking research! Feel free
to reach out if you have any questions.

Best,

Tiago
