The Statistical Genetics and Genomics Group of the Department of Animal
Sciences at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, U.S. is seeking
for a highly motivated PhD Student.
Field of work:
The work will focus on quantitative genetics and multi-omics analyses
(genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and volatilomics) of phenotypic
traits of economic interest in beef cattle.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting field data collection
- Performing image analysis
- Implementing genome-wide association analyses
- Developing multi-omic predictions for economic important traits
- Supervising undergraduate students and collaborating with graduate students
on research projects
- Publishing results in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals
- Communicating results at scientific conferences and stakeholder-oriented
meetings
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Animal Breeding/Genetics/Genomics
- Good statistical/computational background
- Experience in quantitative genetics
- Self-motivated and driven
- Good communication and writing skills
- At least 2 peer-reviewed scientific publications as 1st author
- High work ethic, motivation, and creativity
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Advantageous are:
- Experience of current methods in molecular genetics (GWAS, GS, WGS, scRNAseq),
microbiome and bioinformatics
- Experience of multiomic analysis
